If you’re looking for an all around traditional trail running shoe that handles the dirt, mud, rocks, and road all really well, then the Brooks Cascadia 7 is the shoe for you. This is the jack of all trades trail shoe that is a recurring best seller and well liked shoe, year in and year out.
There are lots of fans of the Cascadia line. At Undefeated Running they love the Cascadia 7, in fact in their review they said, “Best. Shoe. Ever…There is something about these shoes that makes them stand out. Maybe its the combination of simplicity and durability or maybe its the light weight, non-bulky-ness that allows you to be nimble on ANY type of trail”. In another review by Bryon at Irunfar.com, the Cascadia line is his go to shoe. He says, ”This is great all-around shoe for trail runners. It is not a minimalist shoe nor does it try to be one… It’s shoe that I could wear for every single run until they meet their end the better part of a 1,000 miles down the trail (and/or road)”. I can go on and on with these reviews for the Cascadia 7 which is the point and why they are our pick for best traditional trail shoe
If you need another reason to buy the Cascadia 7, then how about the fact that they are co-designed by Scott Jurek, seven time Western States 100 winner and the American record holder in the 24 hour run (165.7 miles!). Anyway, Scott’s accomplishments can be viewed here, but his assistance in helping design this shoe has obviously been invaluable. And apparently, when you run in the Cascadia 7′s you run like a deer.
So, for the best all around traditional trail shoe that you can buy every year and transition right in, the Cascadia 7 is a great choice.
